RAINBOW WEAVER WORKSHOPS - Primary school
Ideal for promoting literacy in the classroom
Due to the success of the book, Lyndsay is currently holding
literacy workshops for children aged 7-10 years.
“My Year 3 class and I had a great morning with Lyndsay
Russell and ‘The Rainbow Weaver’ has since become a much coveted addition to
our book corner!
The fact that Lyndsay wrote the book together with her
daughter Tippi really captured the children’s imagination and, coupled with
the beautiful illustrations and exciting text, boys and girls alike were
enthralled. Lyndsay drew from them some wonderful character descriptions and
ideas… a great morning all round!”

Lyndsay and Tippi are also thrilled that Kingston Music and
Arts Service (Kingston council education dept.) have chosen The Rainbow
Weaver for addition to the curriculum via National Drama workshops.
Called PROCESS Drama - we will explore the characters,
themes and ideas within the story and enabling participants to 'experience'
the world of the story and relevant parallels in their own lives; we'll be
seeking out the metaphors and the morals, the lessons and the inspirations.
The participants will breathe a whole new life into the story and create
lasting memories of the experiences they have with it. We will draw on a
very wide range of drama strategies in our explorations and will present
this as a Scheme of Work. This will have relevance to different areas of the
Primary School curriculum.
