This Little Light

[written for our community newsletter, with Studio Satya]

This time of year may not seem like a time of growth, yet all parts of a cycle are not meant to contain visible evidence of progress. This season becomes one focused on tending, where we draw energy inward, release what we don't need to carry through winter, and allow what has been to compost and give nutrients to what will be.

Here we work to keep the little flame alive – the flame within our individual hearts that fuels the warmth of the community. Light out the in world, both in nature and our current culture, is dimming. It is difficult to unravel and see clearly. This is the moment community matters the most.

When hope seems lost and uncertainty exceeds comprehension, it is a time to lean in. Accept what is uncertain, open to the present moment, right now. Recognize what sensations are magnified. Take a breath. Look around you in this moment. What is beautiful in your surroundings? What are you grateful for? Breathe these in as well. Consider how you want to feel in the future – what does an ideal situation look like, smell like, feel like for you?

This is the light of intention we hold in our hearts. It informs our decisions, our words and actions, and is the guiding light of hope when life seems cold and dark.

At the studio, we intend to continue offering a space where everyone can sort through it all, and hopefully emerge feeling a little more capable of taking on what the world presents. We hope to foster a release from suffering for as many beings as possible, believing that no kind gesture is too small. We hope this comes through, adding fuel to the fire of your intentions in the same way the light each of you brings fuels ours.

Continue keeping the little flame alive.
