Still Points Within

[written for our community newsletter, with Studio Satya]

It is the season for springing to action. We've sprung forward with time, welcomed the increasing light, watched blossoms begin to emerge, and along with them a rainbow of colors and rich scents filling the environment. Perhaps you have cleaned out your home, renewed your garden, and feel seeds stirring within your own body and mind; or, perhaps, you're not quite ready to emerge and launch forward.

Not everything in nature blossoms at once, and neither do we. Goldenrod is just beginning to break through the soil, on its long journey to tall stalks that eventually cascade with golden yellow in late autumn

When we pay attention to our inner callings, we too can emerge and blossom in our right timing. it can require patience at times, and also courage. It requires finding "a still point of the turning world" as T.S. Eliot describes. This practice of being aware of, sitting with, and extending out from that still point is – at its essence – the practice of yoga. This helps guide our actions, when the time is right and in the best direction. It might not always hit the bullseye, but without that anchor point we might otherwise get swept away.

The steadiness we can find in practice – whether active or still – can guide us off the mat in all our endeavors, whether it's forging the way for others or sill waiting for the best moment of taking that first step. No matter which phase in the cycle of emergence you find yourself, we are here offering space for you to connect to that still point within.
